Request For Information (RFI) – Drakensberg Pumped Storage Scheme (PSS) and Ingula PSS, Sewage The purpose of this RFI is not to appoint a Contractor or service provider at this stage. Responses will be used to: Determine whether suitably experienced service providers are available in the market to undertake the required works at both Drakensberg Pumped Storage Scheme and Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme, • Obtain information on technically feasible solutions for the upgrade, refurbishment, operation and maintenance of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at both Drakensberg Pumped Storage Scheme and Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme and Water Treatment Plant (WTP) at Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme, • Obtain indicative capital, operational and lifecycle costs associated with the proposed solutions, and • Identify key assumptions, exclusions, risks, constraints and dependencies associated with the proposed solutions.

Eskom is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) for services related to the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Drakensberg Pumped Storage Scheme and Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme, and the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) at Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme in KwaZulu-Natal. This RFI is not for appointing a service provider but to gauge market availability of experienced companies. Eskom aims to gather information on technically feasible solutions for upgrade, refurbishment, operation, and maintenance, along with indicative costs, risks, and dependencies. A compulsory briefing session will be held on 2026-10-27 at 10:00. Submissions are due by 2026-11-06 at 10:00.

Scope of work

• Determine market availability of suitably experienced service providers for required works at Drakensberg and Ingula Pumped Storage Schemes.
• Obtain information on technically feasible solutions for the upgrade, refurbishment, operation, and maintenance of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Drakensberg and Ingula Pumped Storage Schemes.
• Obtain information on technically feasible solutions for the upgrade, refurbishment, operation, and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) at Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme.
• Obtain indicative capital, operational, and lifecycle costs associated with proposed solutions.
• Identify key assumptions, exclusions, risks, constraints, and dependencies associated with proposed solutions.

Another classification session will be held: Date: 28 October 2026 Time: 10:00 AM Venue/Location: Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme (PSS), visitors center Suppliers are encouraged to attend both site walkdowns, as Drakensberg PSS and Ingula PSS are separate facilities with unique site conditions and operational requirements.
